This Viton replacement kit enables the pump to continue operating at an optimal level, reducing downtime and repair costs. It is an ideal solution when the pump's wet end is damaged or worn out, or if the fluid being pumped has changed. The kit's high-quality components and corrosion-resistant design ensure reliable and long-lasting pump maintenance.
With the IWAKI SKL-500-PV replacement kit, maintenance becomes a simple and cost-effective process. The pump's performance is restored, and its lifespan is extended, reducing the need for frequent replacements. This practical solution ensures that the pump operates efficiently and effectively, providing reliable performance for a wide range of applications.
Viton
Commonly coded as FPM / FKM, Viton is a Fluoropolymer Elastomer and synthetic rubber compound. Viton is the DuPont brand name for Fluorocarbon Rubber commonly used for O-rings as well as other extruded or molded parts.
These materials can withstand temperatures between -20°C and 210°C (-4°F to 410°F), can withstand compounds and chemicals that include silicone fluids, gasses, oils, halogenated compounds, aromatic hydrocarbons, and acids, and can hold a seal despite fungus, UV exposure, ozone, mold, or weather that can cause degradation upon other seals. It also performs well under compression and has excellent heat resistance. In the event of a fire, FKM can release hydrogen fluoride.
There are over 20 different polymers for Viton with differences in viscosity, curing, and fluorine content. Higher fluorine content provides a higher chemical resistance, and those polymers with a lower viscosity assist in molding complex parts.
Viton has a disadvantage, in that it does not have good performance in low temperatures compared to other low-temperature polymers that can work in -40°C conditions.
Viton is typically a more expensive material than other nitrile components.
